The stranger who gets there first
When WSB-TV reported on a young boy found alone in DeKalb County, the story quickly became a public effort to identify him and locate his family. Police later confirmed the family had been found.
Consider the incident from a different point of view: the stranger who first realizes a vulnerable person needs help.
That person may have no training and no access to official systems. They may simply be trying to keep the person safe and make the right call. Yet they can immediately need answers to questions the person may not be able to provide: name, emergency contact, communication guidance, or other chosen emergency information.
That period is part of The Information Gap™ — the time when someone is trying to help but does not yet have the personal context that could make the next step easier.
Scan If Hurt™ uses a scannable Safety ID linked to a person-controlled emergency profile. It gives the individual or caregiver control over what a First Helper can see. No app is required for the person doing the scanning.
Public safety systems still do their job. 911 still gets called. Police and EMS still respond. Scan If Hurt™ addresses a different question: what can the person carry that helps the stranger who gets there first?
