At a crowded event, every patient is still an individual
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that fourteen people were transported from a concert at Discovery Meadow in San Jose after multiple medical emergencies.
San Jose Fire sent an ambulance task force, additional advanced-life-support units and a battalion chief. The Chronicle did not report the specific conditions or causes for the patients, so speculation would add nothing useful.
The event does illustrate one challenge common to festivals, races, conventions and concerts: people are temporarily outside their normal support systems.
At home, a spouse, parent, roommate or caregiver may know whom to call and what information matters. At a venue, the person next to you may be a stranger. If you cannot answer, the responders helping you may have to begin without that personal context.
Scan If Hurt™ gives an individual a scannable Safety ID connected to identity, emergency contacts and selected emergency information chosen in advance. It creates a chosen-information handoff for the person moving through the response.
Event safety is often designed at the crowd level. Personal information readiness addresses the individual inside that crowd.
