Scan If Hurt, bridging The Information Gap

Prevention and preparedness solve different parts of e-bike safety

September 11, 20261 min read

FOX 10 Phoenix reported that Chandler police have increased e-bike enforcement as calls and injuries have grown. The station cited 168 e-bike-related police calls from May through July and interviewed Valleywise physicians who described a rise in serious injuries involving heavier, faster electric bikes.

That reporting is primarily about prevention. Communities are trying to influence behavior before a crash through education, enforcement, equipment and clearer rules.

Those efforts matter. But a complete safety conversation also asks what happens when prevention fails.

An injured rider may be away from family, may not have a friend nearby and may be unable to answer basic questions. That creates a different problem: access to the information the rider would have provided themselves.

Scan If Hurt™ gives the individual a scannable Safety ID connected to identity, emergency contacts and selected emergency information they choose in advance. It is a preparedness layer built for the post-incident information problem.

The strongest e-bike safety strategy is not one idea. It is a series of layers, each addressing a different moment. Prevention tries to keep the crash from happening. Personal information readiness prepares for the moment a person still needs help.
