One crash can become two separate information handoffs

One crash can become two separate information handoffs

NBC10 Philadelphia reported that a man and woman riding an e-bike were hospitalized after an overnight crash in Northeast Philadelphia. Police said the man operating the e-bike was in critical condition while the passenger was stable at another hospital.

The traffic investigation matters. So does a quieter issue that appears once care begins: two people who entered the emergency together may quickly be separated.

A companion may know an emergency contact, allergy or other useful context. But that information is less reliable if the companion is transported elsewhere, injured too, or simply unavailable.

Scan If Hurt™ is designed for that person-level handoff. A scannable Safety ID connects to emergency contacts and other information the individual chose to make available.

Nothing in NBC10's report establishes that information was missing in this incident, and Scan If Hurt would not prevent the crash or replace emergency or medical care. The preparedness lesson is narrower: chosen emergency information should be able to travel with the person when the people around them cannot.
