When a child cannot explain, prepared information can speak for them
WBAL reported that a nonverbal 6-year-old who disappeared in Brandywine Creek State Park was located safely by New Castle County police K-9 Fiasko.
The child was found in good health and reunited with family.
For families of nonverbal children, separation creates a communication challenge immediately. The next person trying to help may know nothing about the child and may not be able to get answers verbally.
That is something families can prepare for.
Scan If Hurt™ gives a child a scannable Safety ID connected to a Personal Emergency Profile containing information the family chooses to make available. That can include identity, emergency contacts and selected communication or emergency information.
The value is simple: when the child cannot explain for themselves, prepared information can still be available to the person trying to help.
That is one more decision a family can make before separation ever occurs.
