When normal support disappears, the person's information can still stay with them

Hoodline reported that a 68-year-old man was located safely after an overnight missing-person search in Palmdale, California. He had been classified as at risk because of dementia and schizophrenia.

A successful recovery is the most important part of the story.

It also illustrates a challenge families and caregivers know well: a person can suddenly become separated from the people who normally understand their history, routines, needs and emergency contacts.

At that point, the first person trying to help may be a stranger.

That creates an information question families can prepare for in advance.

What should another person be able to learn if they encounter your loved one when you are not there?

Scan If Hurt™ allows an individual or caregiver to create a Personal Emergency Profile connected to a scannable Safety ID. They choose what information is available, including identity, emergency contacts and selected emergency information.

The goal is simple: make useful information available with the person, even during the period when their normal support network is somewhere else.

For families concerned about dementia, wandering or other situations where separation can occur, that is a practical preparedness decision that can be made long before an emergency begins.
