Micromobility Safety Is Not Only About the Ride
The Vermont Daily Chronicle reported that an e-scooter lithium battery experienced a significant failure inside a Colchester apartment building, leading to multiple small fires, smoke and an evacuation. One resident requested medical evaluation for coughing and a sore throat.
The story broadens the usual micromobility safety conversation. E-scooter risk is not limited to traffic collisions. Batteries, charging and storage matter too.
Those technology issues need technology and fire-safety solutions.
But an emergency can also create a human information problem. During an evacuation, a person may be separated from family, neighbors or the normal sources of context they rely on. If that person also needs medical attention, selected emergency information may need to travel with them.
Scan If Hurt™ is a person-controlled preparedness layer for that information problem. A scannable Safety ID connects to a Personal Emergency Profile containing the information the person chose to make available.
That keeps the product role clear: helping information stay connected to the person during an emergency, while fire prevention and fire response remain their own critical safety functions.
